Best of 2020: TV Shows

IMG_5055_2.jpg

Let’s be real here, we watched a lot of TV in 2020. TV and movies kept us sane and gave us something to talk about in all those Zoom calls and facetimes. TV helped us escape the fact that we were sitting alone, in our pajamas, two glasses of wine deep at 8PM on a Friday night…or was that just me?

So naturally, I thought it would be fun to share my top 10 shows of 2020. Just incase you need something to watch in 2021 while you are waiting to get your vaccine.

1
Schitt’s Creek

Netflix

I laughed, I cried, I laughed and cried at the same time! If you have not watched Schitt’s Creek you have to change that asap. Take a rich, spoiled family, then take away all their money, leave them in a small town to live in a motel and fend for themselves. But make it hilarious.

2
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Amazon Prime
What do the 1950’s, stand-up comedy and a housewife all have in common? They make for great tv. Every season of watching Mrs. Maisel has been incredible and the story lines get better time after time.

3
Virgin River

Nexflix

Virgin River was so good I watched a whole season in a day. This show truly has it all. Romance, drama, crime, flashbacks…you name it, it has it. I waited to watch it until season 2 came out in November and thank god I did. Because I’m hooked and I need season 3 asap.

4
Emily in Paris

Netflix

While this show could never be real and I’m personally offended by how bad her Instagram pictures are on the show, I loved the show. Emily gets to live my dreams in so many ways. She is working in fashion, living in Paris (it’s Italy for me), falls in love, makes amazing friends and has great fashion. It such an easy and enjoyable show to watch and you won’t regret it.

5
The Crown

Netflix

My mom has been interested in the Royal Family as long as I can remember and I grew up being fascinated by them too. So when The Crown came out, naturally I was hooked. I have heard it’s hard for some people to get through the first season but I promise it’s worth it. Diana was introduced this season and trust me…it’s so fascinating to see inside the lives of the most family famous.

6
Succession

HBO
What’s a father to do when he is ready to retire from his multibillion business, leave it to one of his kids to run right? Well you would think that, but in Succession, Logan Roy and his children will keep you guessing about who will run the company someday and so much more. This show is darkly dramatic, yet has comedy and suspense mixed in as well. It’s def not a rom com, light hearted show but worth digging into.

7
Selling Sunset

Netflix
Think Real Housewives meets Million Dollar Listing and you get Selling Sunset. When they are not selling LA’s most expensive and glamorous homes, the cast can be found throwing parties, going to some of the cities best, falling in love, getting into trouble and closing the deal. What more do you need?

8
Love is Blind

Netflix
One of, if not the most talked about shows in 2020. Who would have thought you could fall in love with someone without ever seeing them? Don’t believe me? You better check it out for yourself then.

9
CHEER

Netflix
Never did I think, I would be so interested in cheerleading. But man, I became so invested in this show and the people in it. They put their bodies through hell and have a passion for cheerleading like no other. Such a feel good yet eye opening show. I pray we get another season.

10
Tiger King

Netflix
This show could not have come out at more perfect time. Lockdown had just started and we all needed something to keep us distracted from our new normal. Well thank god for Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin and Doc Antle for their crazy, insane, tiger loving lives. Expect the unexpected with this show and get ready for a wild ride.

Honorable Mention
Sweet Magnolias

Netflix
I tell all my friends, if you love Gilmore Girls (who doesn’t) then Sweet Magnolias is for you. It’s the first show ever to give me those vibes that GG does. And guys, this show was so good, I watched the whole season in one day. In a picturesque small town, a group of three friends finds a second chance at love, success and happiness. But having it all is not as easy as you think.
