Instant Pot Recipes: Easy French Onion Soup

Anyone here love French Onion Soup?! I loooooove French Onion Soup. So when I was looking around Williams Sonoma the other week, I stopped in my tracks when I saw this soup starter! Basically, no work and I can make amazing French Onion Soup super fast… dream come true! I will mention you need an Instant Pot for this magic to happen. But trust me it was hands down one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.

So let’s get cooking!

Here is what you will need:
-1 jar Williams Sonoma Soup Starter
-1 cup of water
-1 liter of beef broth
-Croutons or bread of your choice. ( I love Wegman’s Tuscan bread)
-Shredded Gruyere Cheese (or slices if you prefer)

Truly, no prep work here thanks to Williams Sonoma! Pour the jar of soup starter, 1 cup of water and finally 1 liter of beef broth into your Instant Pot!

After adding all the ingredients, put your Instant Pot on high for 6 minutes. Then let it naturally release for 10 minutes before taking the lid off.

But I found that for me that was either not enough time or it was thicker then I prefer my soup to be. So in my case I did the 6 minutes and strained out the excess onions and seasoning.

Once you open the lid, fill those bowls. Then we can either go two ways. One being, if you have a bowl/bowls that can go in your broiler. Pop your bread in. Then, melt that beautiful cheese on top. (Use slices if going this route). But if you are like me and don’t have those kinda bowls, take my easy but just as tasty route.

What I do is add my bread, then add a thick layer of shredded cheese on top. Then I pop the bowl in the microwave for 1:30 and YUM melted to perfection and just as good. Also, I have melted the cheese on the bread first and then added it to the bowl. Both ways are broiler free but taste just as great.

I have been having this for dinner all week and can say it does not loose its taste. I will 100% be trying another Williams Sonoma starter and making this again! Time to eat!
