What I Learned in 2020

It’s crazy to think this time last year, I had no idea what the word Covid meant. Masks were not a thing and I went to the office for work everyday. It’s hard for me to say this, but I was one of those people who said and truly believed 2020 would be my year. I was so excited for it and it started out great. In January, I got promoted at work. Something I had been working towards and wanting for a while. Then in February, I beat out 10 other people to buy my condo, which is the perfect little starter home for me. Then, March hit and you know what happens next.

While 2020 was not anyone’s year and not what we wanted, we still learned so much. Even something as small as we can work from home and still be productive to big things like how to cope with our new normal. I feel like 2020 pushed me and I grew in ways I didn’t know possible. There were lows but also highs and I’m trying to celebrate and learn from both.

Here are some big takeaways from the year for me

1. Good health is all we really need

Something we all learned this year. Be thankful for good health and never take it for granted. ❤️ Not much else matters.

2. Not to sweat the small stuff

This one is hard for me. I can 100% admit I used to get stressed out easily. It’s something I worked on and grew from. But this year made me realize even more, there is not a lot worth stressing over.

3. I’m more of a homebody then I thought

Before the pandemic, I was the girl going out to brunch, dinner and doing things three times a week and every weekend. Obviously that has changed and while I miss that part of my life. I never realized how much I enjoy being cozy at home, binge watching a show. I can spend hours being content watching tv while looking for more home décor to buy (lol). I am super thankful for that part of me for helping me get through this year.

4. Home decor and design has become a passion

Ya’ll I wanna flip a house SO BAD. Buying my condo and flipping it to be my own has only lighted the fire in me more. I am fully obsessed with HGTV and have loved seeing this different creative side come out of me. It’s hands down one of the best things that has happen to me this year. I can spend hours looking at beautiful homes and decor. I can’t wait to go to HomeGoods safely in 2021.

5. I became thankful for technology in a new way

I know we live in a phone obsessed world. But I have to say how thankful I became for technology during this year. Zoom, Facetime and so many others, allowed us to feel as connected as possible when we couldn’t physically be together. It allowed us to help doctor’s to save lives and help us create the vaccine. It allowed us to work from home and order what we needed when we couldn’t get to the store. It became a lifeline and I am so incredibly thankful for it.
