But First, Brunch at Quality Eats

When I moved to New York about 5 years ago, I started saving photos of restaurants I wanted to try. And one of the first photos I ever saved was of the birthday cake dessert from Quality Eats. So, needless to say I’ve been wanting to come here for a long time.

So finally, two weekends ago I made it! I headed to their Upper East Side location with my friend Kimmy for brunch. (They also have locations in NoMad and the West Village). After we sat down, we ordered drinks. I got the “Easy Rider #2” and Kimmy got a “French Toast”. The French Toast was sweet and did taste a bit like the real thing. BUT real talk, I was/am obsessed with my drink. It was sweet, fruity and fresh in the best way possible. Honestly, I think this could be one of my favorite drinks of all time (crazy I know).

For food, Kimmy was dying to try the “Quality Monkey Bread with Brunch Spreads” so we started off with it. And I am glad we did. This was not your typical Monkey Bread, this one was savory! Maybe it’s just me but I’m used to the typical sweet ones but this one was cheesy and full of flavor.

For entrees I decided to try the “LA Eggs” which ended up being almost like a Mexican dish (shocker here why I picked it). It has guacamole with a crispy tortilla that topped with salsa, chives, onions and finally two fried eggs. It also came with a small salad on the side. Kimmy ended up trying the “Short Rib Hash”. Which was basically potatoes, short ribs, Tabasco hollandaise and an egg on top. Both were great and we really enjoy them. Mine tasted very fresh and I felt full but not stuffed after eating and that means its a real winner to me.

We also struck up a conversation with two guys at the table next to us who recommended “Quality Mule - On Tap”. So I have to try that next time I go. For dessert, we of course had to get the “Scoop: Birthday Cake Sundae” that I had been dreaming about for basically five years. BUT they had changed the menu about a month ago the waitress told me. So they do have something thats basically the same as before but its SO much smaller. It was very delicious and cute that it comes with a candle even if it’s not your birthday. Lesson here is not to just be like “I’ll get there eventually” I should have gone years ago!

I could go on forever about how I love the decor and style of the restaurant especially the pink accents. It was so clean, had lots of light and felt open for a restaurant in New York. I need to go back for dinner soon especially to try the “Brown-Bag Curly Fries” (now i’m hungry).
